The Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología publishes original articles (and not simultaneously submitted to another journal), peer-reviewed by two or more referees under double-blind modality, related to the diagnosis, treatment and pathophysiology of diseases and conditions of the musculoskeletal system, which include both basic and clinical science studies, along with case reports.

Since May 2016, the Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología has been bilingual, publishing its articles in their original language, Spanish, along with their translation into English.
Since 2021, the Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología changed its publication frequency to bimonthly, with issues released in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
Focus and scope
The mission of the Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología is to provide scientific updates on the specialty and its objective is to be the representative body of the scientific activity of the association. Its content consists of: Research articles, review articles in the different areas of orthopedics and traumatology, clinical studies, case presentations, updates, postgraduate instruction and editorials.

The Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología is the official scientific publication of the Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología in the Argentine Republic.
The journal originated in 1936 under the title Boletines y Trabajos de la Sociedad Argentina de Cirugía Ortopédica (ISSN 1515-4769), published from Volume 1 (1936) to Volume 14 (1949). Later, it adopted the name Boletines y Trabajos de la Sociedad Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología (ISSN 0325-1578), spanning Volume 15 (1950) to Volume 47, Issue 3 (1982).
In 1982, following a modification of its institutional designation, the journal was renamed Boletines y Trabajos de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología (ISSN 1666-8642), covering Volume 47, Issue 4 (1982) to Volume 48 (1983).
Since 1984, the journal has carried its current title, Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología (ISSN 1515-1786), starting with Volume 49 (1984) and following a quarterly publication schedule. The printed edition was continuously published from 1984 to 2012. In 2017, print publication resumed, extending until Issue 2 of Volume 83 (2018).
The electronic edition of the journal, Revista de la Asociación Argentina de Ortopedia y Traumatología, has ISSN 1852-7434 (abbreviated title: Rev. Asoc Argent Ortop y Traumatol), assigned on November 12, 2009, and has been available online since then at the following link: https://raaot.org.ar
