Abstract

Fractures of the distal anterolateral tibial malleolus, known as Tillaux-Chaput fractures, are common in skeletally immature patients but rare in adults. The posterior lip of the distal tibia, or Volkmann fragment, may present as an isolated fracture but is more commonly associated with trimalleolar or quadrimalleolar fracture-dislocations, as well as Maisonneuve-type injuries. However, the simultaneous occurrence of Volkmann-Tillaux fractures is extremely rare and has been scarcely reported in the literature. We present a case of a bimalleolar equivalent fracture in an adult, discussing its diagnosis, classification, management, and clinicalradiological outcome.
